ISEA workshop, 17 October 2020, in Montréal, Toronto, São Paulo, Liverpool, Glasgow, London, Dundee, Amsterdam, Berlin, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Melbourne …..

Thanks to everyone who took part in our workshop, Networked Art Practice After Digital Preservation, at ISEA2020.

Over 30 participants from across the world took part with enthusiasm and it was amazing to having a network of participants from São Paulo – Melbourne so committed for the five-hour duration of the workshop.

We powered through with enlightening framing statements by Annet Dekker on ‘networks of care’ and Anisa Hawes on methods of web preservation including Rhizome.org’s Conifer, followed by artist presentations of our case studies, The Museum of Ordure by Geoff Cox and 6 Months Without by Nastja Säde Rönkkö. Our bloggers, Bilyana Palankasova, Lozana Rossenova and Erin Walter kept us on track and documented the workshop throughout. Expect to see their articles here on the blog soon.

As night was falling across Europe as dawn rose across Asia, the workshop began to feel like a synchronous global network art event in itself. It felt wonderful to be able to connect with so many engaged practitioners across the world, such an unusual feeling in our otherwise bordered reality of the moment.

We feel there is enough interest and momentum to take the project forward as a research network. We would be very happy if you wanted to stay in touch and be part of that going forward, whether you could attend the workshop or not. if so, please go to https://networkedart.blog/contact/ to let us know.

You will see that we can offer you a user account so that you can post articles and share information on the blog. We are also happy to publish your short biography, website and social media contact details too if you are interested. If not, don’t worry, signing up would just mean we keep you informed about the project.

We will begin to work on the workshop documentation later this week and provide updates on the blog here.
